1. Non-Purulent Submaxillary Lymphnoditis

Name: Yang.

Sex: Male.

Age: 22 years.

0ccupation: A college-student.

Chief Complaint: Swelling-pain of hoth submaxillary regions for 40 days.

History of Present Illness: Fouty days ago, the patient got a swelling-pain in both submaxillary regions without any obvious causes. The swelling lumps were peanut like nodes with tenacious texture. There were 2 nodes in the left submaxillary region and 1 in the right. If touched upon, there appeared a sharp tenderness. But they were all divided from the adjacent tissue clearly and could be moved freely. In addition, there weren't fever, fatigue, chill, lassitude and so on. In the past 40 days, he had separately been to the local policlinic and a hospital for treatment. Some relative examination such as ESR, blood routine test showed there weren't any abnormal results. Then he was treated with intravenous dripping "Benzylpenicillin" and oral taking some antibiotic and antiviral drugs. After 40 days' treatment, there was no effect on him. Then he came to our hospital for treatment on October 1,19.97.

Physical Examination: The patient was conscious with a normal general condition. The pulse was uneven and thready, the tongue was rich red with a thin layer of white fur. There were 3 swelling submaxillary lymph nodes in both submaxillary region, 20nes were in the left, the other was in the right. They were all tenacious-textured and freely mobiled with tenderness and divided from their adjacent tissue clearly. There wasn't other abnormal sign.

Lab Test: The results of blood routine test were all in normal limit; ERS: 2mm/h.

Diagnosis: Non-Purulent Submaxillary Lymphnoditis.

Differentiation: It's entanglement of phlegm heat. They accu-mulated together in the submaxillary regions and caused the swelling nodes.

Therapeutic Principle: Because it' s difficult to remove the entanglement of phlegm-heat with common heat-clearing drugs and phlegm-eliminating drugs, it' s necessary to use some sharp-tempered drugs in order to clear away heat and eliminate phlegm-evil, soften and resolve the hardness.

Recipe: Miraculous Pills of Six Drugs.

NiuHuang,Cow bezoare 7.5g

SheXiang, Musk 5g

BingPian, Borneol 5g

ZhenZhu, Pearl 7.5g

XiongHuang, Realgar 5g

All the above drugs were to be ground into powder, mixed with some water together to make 100 pieces of pills, he should take 6 pieces of pills each time, 3 times a day. Greasy and hot food was forbidden during the treatment.

Effect Observation: After 2 days' treatment, the swelling pain disappeared. After 6 days' treatment, there weren't nodes in both submaxillary region, only 2 meat-like lymphnodes were there. Then he was told to continue the treatment to cure the illness completely. After 1 month' s follow up, the illness didn' t recur. Then it's ending.
