Round Diagram of the Sixty-four Hexagrams
Bagua consists of broken (yin) and unbroken (yang lines. Picking up two trigrams from bagua and placing one above the other, you will get the sixty-four hexagrams. The upper trigram is called the " outer" trigram, and the lower one the "inner" trigram.

The sixty-four hexagrams constitute the fundamental framework for the exposition of qigong in terms of the yin-yang relation. The arrange-ment of broken and unbroken lines in each hexagram and the correlation between different hexagrams indicate the cyclic dong of the human body and the natural world, which in turn provide a useful reference system for qigong practice.
