The ninth lunar month of the year belongs to xu, eleventh in the twelve earthly branches, and in addition corresponds to the Bladder Channel of Foot-Taiyang in the jingluo system and bo in the sixty-four hexagrams. What you have to bear in mind in this month is that qi arises at 3 p.m. and you'd better face southwest in practice. Be sure to control nocturnal emission and astring shen because yin grows strong and yang Weak.
(1) Hanlu (Cold Dew)
The time between 1 and 5 a.m. every day in this month is good for the following exercise. Sit upright with legs crossed. Raise arms to sides and palms facing each other. Then lift and lower body 15 times before turning it to the left and right, 15 times also on each side. Then, with body remaining upright, click teeth 36 times and inhale and exhale for a whilst before swallowing saliva.
This exercise helps cure pathogenic wind-dampness, headache, pain in the ribs, lacrimation, nosebleed and hemorrhoid.
(2) Shuangjiang (Frost' s Descent)
The time between 1 and 5 a.m. every day in this month is also good for the following exercise. Sit with legs bent and hands holding feet. Kick legs forward and withdraw them whilst keeping a grip on feet. Return to the starting position and repeat the kicking and withdrawing movements 35 times. Then, sitting upright with legs crossed, click teeth 36 times and inhale and exhale for a whilst before swallowing saliva. This exercise is ef-fective for lumbago due to pathogenic wind-dampness, stiffness in the leg and foot, headache, muscular atrophy, hematochezia, difficulty in mic-turition and beriberi.
