Shidi Calyx Kaki
The source is from the persistent calyx of Diospyro Kaki L.f., family Ebenaceae. The medicinal material is mainly produced in the areas of Sichuan, Guangdong, Fujian, Shandong, and Henan, etc., collected during the period of August and September, dried in the sun and the crude form is used.
Medicinal Properties Bitter in flavor, bland in nature and attributive to the stomach meridians.
Actions Lower the adverse rising qi and relieve hiccup.
Application
It is used to treat syndrome of hiccup, and can be combined with relevant medicinal herbs according to symptoms and signs. For hiccup due to stomach-cold, it is combined with Dingxiang ( Flos Caryophylli ) and Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens), that is, Shidi Tang (Decoction) to warm the stomach and lower the adverse-rising qi and relieve hiccup; for that due to stomach-heat, combined with Lugen ( Rhizoma Phragmitis ), Zhuru (Caulis Bambusae in Taeniam) and others that clear away heat from the stomach.
Usage and Dosage 5 - 10 g is used in decoction for oral use.
