Jixueteng Caulis Spatholobi
The source is from the vine of Spatholobus suberectus Dunn, family Legnminosaae. The medicinal material is mainly produced in Guangxi, cut in autumn, dried in the sun, moistened thoroughly and then cut into pieces. The crude form or paste steamed is used.
Medicinal Properties Bitter and slightly sweet in flavor, warm in nature and attributive to the liver meridian.
Actions Promote blood circulation and enrich the blood, regulate menstruation, relax tendons and activate the meridians.
Application
1. It is used for irregular menstruation, unsmooth menstruation, dysmenorrhea and amenorrhea due to blood deficiency no matter whether the symptoms are caused by stasis or deficiency of blood or blood deficiency concurrently having stasis.
2. For soreness, numbness and palsy of extremities and pain in the Bi-syndrome due to wind-damp, etc., it can be combined with according to syndromes.
Recently paste of Jixueteng ( Caulis Spatholobi) is used for leukocytopenia.
Usage and Dosage 10 - 15 g is used in decoction for oral use and large amount of 30 g may be used. Or it can be soaked in wine or decocted into paste.
