Shuizhi Hirudo
The source is from the whole body of Annelid whitmania pigra (whitman), Whitmania acranulae (whit-man), Hirudo nipponica whitman, etc., family Hirudinidae. The medicinal material is produced in all parts of China, caught in summer from May to June or in autumn, dried in the sun to avoid moth-eating. The powder or the one roasted with weak fire is used.
Medicinal Properties Salty and bitter in flavor, mild in nature, mildly toxic and attributive to the liver meridian.
Action Remove blood stasis.
Application
It is used for blood-stasis syndromes such as amenorrhea, abdominal mass and trauma. For amenorrhea and abdominal mass, it is usually combined with Taoren (SeDahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei ), Shuizhi (Hirudo), Ruxiang (Olibanum) and Moyao (Myrrha), etc., such as Huazheng Huisheng Dan (Pill).
Usage and Dodge 1 - 1.5 g is used in decoction for oral use. 0. 3 g of the powder is swallowed with water.
Notes Contraindicated in pregnant women.
