
2.2.2.1 Cyclical flowing and distribution
The conception vessel starts from the uterus and emerges from the perineum. It goes anteriorly to the pu-bic region and ascends along the interior of the abdomen, passing through Guanyuan (CV 4) and the other points along the front midline to the throat. Ascending further, it curves around the lips, passes through the cheek and enters the infraorbital region. One of its branch runs along with the thoroughfare vessel upward in the spine (see Fig. 87).
Associated viscus: Uterus.
Associated organs: Lips, eyes, throat and genitals.
2.2.2.2 Indications
Local disorders of the abdomen, chest, neck and head and diseases of the related viscera. A few of the acupoints on the conception vessel are effective in strengthening the body.
2.2.2.3 Commonly used acupoints
2.2.2,3,1 Qugu (CV2)
Location: This acupoint is located on the anterior midline and the midpoint of the upper border of the symphysis pubis in supine position (see Fig. 88).
Indications: Irregular menstruation, leukorrhea, tin-smooth urination, enuresis, seminal emission and impotence.
2.2.2.3.2 Zhongji (CV3)
Location: This acupoint is located on the lower abdomen, anterior midline and 4 cun directly below the umbilicus in supine position (see Fig. 88).
Indications. Irregular menstruation, metrorrhagia and metrostaxis, leukorrhea, prolapse of uterus, sterili-ty, enuresis, unsmooth urination, hernia, seminal emission and impotence.

2.2.2.3.3 Guanyuan (CV 4)
Location: This acupoint is located on the lower abdomen, anterior midline and 3 cun directly below the umbilicus in supine position (see Fig. 88).
Indications: Diarrhea, irregular menstruation, leukorrhea, sterility, enuresis, frequent urination, anuri-a, seminal emission, impotence, hernia and emaciation due to consumptive disease.

2.2.2.3.4 Shimen (CV5)
Location. This acupoint is located on the lower abdo-men, anterior midline and 2 curl directly below the umbili-cus in supine position (see Fig. 88).
Indications: Abdominal pain, edema, unsmooth urination, diarrhea, amenorrhea, leukorrhea, metrorrha-gia and metrostaxis, and hernia.

2.2.2.3.5 Qihai (CV 6)
Location: This acupoint is located on the lower abdo-men, anterior midline and 1. 5 cun directly below the umbilicus in supine position (see Fig. 88) or on the mid-point of the line joining the center of the umbilicus and Guanyuan (CV 4).
Indications: Dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, irregular menstruation, enuresis, seminal emission, hernia, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation and prostration.

2.2.2.3.6 Shenque (CV 8)
Location: This acupoint is located on the center of the abdomen and the umbilicus in supine position (see Fig. 88).
Indications: Abdominal pain, diarrhea, prolapse of rectum, edema and prostration.
2.2.2.3.7 Shuifen (CV 9)
Location: This acupoint is located on the upper abdo-men, anterior midline and 1 cun directly above the umbili-cus in supine position (see Fig. 88).
Indications: Abdominal pain, regurgitation, vomi-ting, diarrhea, anuria and edema.
2.2.2.3.8 Xiawan (CV 10)
Location: This acupoint is located on the upper abdomen, anterior midline and 2 cun directly above the umbilicus in supine position (see Fig. 88).
Indications. Abdominal pain and distension, dyspep-sia, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal mass.
2.2.2.3.9 dianli (CV 11)
Location: This acupoint is located on the upper abdo-men, anterior midline and 3 cun directly above the umbili-cus in supine position (see Fig. 88).
Indications: Stomachache, abdominal distension, vomiting, poor appetite and edema.
2.2.2.3.10 Zhongwan (CV 12)
Location: This acupoint is located on the upper abdo-men and anterior midline, 4 cun directly above the umbili-cus in supine position and at the midpoint between the xiphoid process and the umbilicus (see Fig. 88).
Indications. Stomachache, abdominal distension, vomiting, hiccup, hematemesis, acid regurgitation, jaun-dice, borborygmus, diarrhea, edema, anorexia, dyspep-sia, depressive psychosis, manic psychosis, postpartum syncope due to blood loss, syncope, insomnia, consump-tive disease and asthma.

2.2.2.3.11 Shangwan (CV 13)
Location: This acupoint is located on the upper abdo-men, anterior midline and 5 cun directly above the umbilicus in supine position (see Fig. 88).
Indications: Stomachache, vomiting, abdominal dis-tension and epilepsy.
2.2.2.3.12 Juque (CV 14)
Location: This acupoint is located on the upper abdo-men, anterior midline and 6 cun directly above the umbili-cus in supine position (see ,Fig. 88).
Indications: Angina pectoris, dysphoria, palpitation, amnesia, vomiting, acid regurgitation, hiccup, dysphagia, jaundice, depressive psychosis, manic psychosis, and epilepsy.

2.2.2.3.13 Jiuwei (CV 15)
Location. This acupoint is located on the upper abdo-men, anterior midline and 1 cun directly below the xiphoid process in supine position (see Fig. 88).
Indications: Angina pectoris, dysphoria, palpitation, depressive psychosis, manic psychosis, epilepsy, cough, asthma, chest pain, abdominal distension, vomiting, hic-cup, jaundice and diarrhea.

2.2.2.3.14 Tanzhong (CV 17)
Location: This acupoint is located on the anterior midline in women, at the level with the fourth intercostals space and midway between the nipples in men (see Fig. 89).
Indications. Cough, asthma, chest pain, angina pec-toris, palpitation, dysphoria, insomnia, insufficiency of lactation, breast abscess, vomiting and dysphagia.

2.2.2.3.15 Yutang (CV 18)
Location. This acupoint is located on the anterior midline and on the level with the third intercostals space (see Fig. 89).
Indications. Cough, asthma, chest pain and vomi-ting.
2.2.2.3.16 Xuanji (CV21)
Location: This acupoint is located on the anterior midline and 1 cun below the suprasternal fossa (see Fig. 89).
Indications. Cough, asthma, chest pain and sore throat.
2.2.2.3.17 Tiantu (CV 22)
Location: This acupoint is located on the anterior midline and in the suprasternal fossa (see Fig. 90).
Indications. Cough, asthma; chest pain, sore throat, sudden loss of voice, goiter, dysphagia and plum-pit ob-structive sensation in the throat.
2.2.2.3.18 Lianquan (CV23)
Location: This acupoint is located on the anterior midline, above the Adam's apple and in the depression of the upper border of the hyoid bone (see Fig. 90).
Indications: Sublingual swelling and pain, sluggish movement of the tongue, drooling, aphasia due to stiff tongue, sudden loss of voice and difficulty in swallowing.
2.2.2.3.19 Chengjiang (CV 24)
Location: This acupoint is located in the depression in the center of the mentolabial groove (see Fig. 90).
Indications: Facial distortion, swelling and pain of gum, drooling and epilepsy.
