Traditional Chinese Cupping

Chinese Cupping
Cupping

Cupping is a TCM technique that uses warmed cups on the skin to draw Qi and Blood to needed areas. There are three main methods of cupping: fixed, moving and flashing. The air in the cup is warmed quickly with a flame and placed on the skin, creating a vacuum. It can then be moved, providing a feeling and effect similar to a deep massage. The cups can also be left in place to draw Blood and Qi to the surface. The flashing technique involves removing the cup from the skin quickly to remove toxins. Cups can be made of glass, plastic or bamboo. They can be used alone or in conjunction with acupuncture.

Cupping is most commonly used on the back, but can be used on most any part of the body. It is very effective in the treatment of pain, cold and flu, stress and many other ailments. It is also a primary therapy used in acupuncture facelifts.
