Yinchaihu Radix Stellariae
The source is from the root of Stellaria dichotoma L. vat. lanceolata Bunge, family Caryophyllaceae. The medicinal herb is mainly produced in the areas of Ningxia, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Gansu, and Shaanxi, etc., collected after autumn, dried in the sun, cut into pieces and the crude form is used.
Medicinal Properties Sweet in flavor and slightly cold in nature and attributive to the liver and stomach meridians.
Actions Clear away asthenia-heat, and reduce fever of infantile malnutrition.
Application
1. For yin-deficiency with fever, bone steaming and hectic fever, and night sweat, it is usually used together with Digupi ( Cortege Lycii Radicis ), Qinghao ( Herba Artemisiae Annuae ) , and Biejia ( Carapax Trionycis ) , etc., such as Qinggu San (Powder).
2. For infantile malnutrition with fever, abdominal enlargement, emaciation, it is usually used together with Dangshen ( Radix Codonopsis ) , Huhuanglian ( Rhizoma Picrorrhizae ), and Jineijin ( Endothelium Corneum Gigeriae Galli), etc. to play a role in reducing accumulation and clearing away fever of infantile malnutrition.
Usage and Dosage 3 -10 g is used in decoction for oral use.
Notes Contraindicated for wind-cold syndrome due to exogenous attack and blood-deficiency without fever.
