The harmonious combination of western painting skills and traditional Chinese painting skills was embodied clearly by Lang Shining/in Lang Shining¡¯s painting: Eight Fine Horses, in which the eight horses, standing, eating grasses, necking or running, were acting in different ways. The author, who had a comprehensive knowledge in anatomical structure and skills of shade and shadow, used western painting skills, such as perspective drawing and clair-obscure, etc, to make the horses in his painting (looked) three-dimensional.
