The seventh lunar month of the year belongs to shen, ninth in the twelve earthly branches, and in addition corresponds to the Gallbladder Channel of Foot-Shaoyang in the jingluo system and pi in the sixty-four hexagrams. What you have to bear in mind in this month is that pi stands for obstruction in which yin and yang cannot unite because of obstruction in heaven and earth. Be sure to avoid rash action, keep body and mind re-laxed and preserve shen and qi. Don't forget facing south in practice be-cause qi arises at 11 a.m. in this month.

(1) Liqiu (the Beginning of Autumn)

The time between 1 and 5 a.m. every day in this month is good for the following exercise. Sit cross-legged with palms flatly on floor and body pushed up. Keep body movements coordinated so as to regulate the circula-tion of qi. Inhale whilst pushing up body but exhale whilst lowering body. Return to the starting position and repeat the whole process 36 times. Then, keeping body in an upright position, click teeth and swallow saliva.

This Qigong exercise may help restore lost qi and eliminate stagnant qi in the kidneys and cure pain in the chest and on the rib, dim complexion, headache and ophthalmagia.
