Rlung Diseases
The three basic elements have been introduced before, among them, there is "rlung" which is omnipresent over the whole body. Its physiological function is very significant, including ensuring blood circulation throughout the body; the vital physiological process of respiration; the metabolic process of food digestion; the transportation of essence and dross; the movements of the trunk and extremities, and the reaction of the body with its surroundings. It is obvious that the rlung of Tibetan medicine is quite similar to that of "qi" in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), though there are some differences. It is exactly due to the extensive inclusion of the functions of rlung that, once it contracts an illness, its condition is serious, and its involvement quite extensive.
