Chinas Tibetan Medication

This is the exuberant period of feverish disorders, indicating that thepathogen is strong while the patient's resistance is also still strong enough, thuspushing the fever to reach a mature stage, and become pervasive throughout the
body. The manifestations include fever all day long with a sour pain in all thejoints, thirst, sweating, deep-colored urine, with more vapor, float-rapid pulse,shortness of breath, and thick yellow greasy fur on the tongue.

There might be other manifestations that vary on the basis of which organ isaffected. When the heart is affected, the tongue is dry or even scorched, and thisis accompanied by lethargy and total loss of appetite; when the lung is affected,there will be a prickly pain in the chest and back, coughing in the night,:palpitations and shortness of breath; when the liver is affected, the symptomsare reddened eyes and a prickly pain in the right hypochondriac region; when the spleen is affected, there will be a distended pain in the chest and abdomen,black lips and panting, numbness in the limbs, a sour back and waist; when the kidney is affected, the symptoms will be prickly pain in the waist and back,deafness, oliguria with deep-colored and hot urine with much vapor; when the vital vessel is affected, the patient will fall into a coma or become delirious.


when the stomach is affected, there will be nausea, vomiting and colic pain in the epigastric region; when the gallbladder is affected, the symptoms are a bittertaste in the mouth, deep yellow-colored urine, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting,even with bile.

For treatment, various therapies are available depending on the organ affected. Here, only the general treatments are given below.

Diet: Includes rice porridge, cow's milk and cheese and cool boiled water. Cheese made of yak or sheep's milk, liquor, meat, salty food are all prohibited. Staying in a cool, and well-ventilated house is encouraged.

Medication: A cooling solution decocted by powder made of Herba Swertia purpurascens, Caulis Tinospora, Fructus Phyllanthi and Herba Corydalis sibericae is given. After taking the decoction, normal blood is separated from bad blood and bloodletting can be administered. The following recipes can also be given.

Ba-zhu Powder: Bezoar, white sandalwood, Calciosinter, Flos CarthHerba Swertia purpurascens, Herba Corydalis sibericae, Rhizoma PicrorrhizaRadix Aconiti forrestii.

Shi-er-wei-yi-shou-cao Powder: Herba Pterocephali, Radix Aconiti forres Herba Oxytopis, Radix Aconiti tanguticum, herba hypocoum, Calciosinter, Flos Carthami, bezoar, white sandalwood, musk, Benzoic.
