This fever mostly occurs after an extended fever has not been well treate causing residual fever to linger, with the body resistance lowered, thus resultingin void or asthenic fever.

The manifestations include empty-rapid-slender pulse, deep-colored clear without turbidity, fever, shortness of breath, migrating pain all over the body, reddened eyes, dry and rough and corrugated skin, fidgeting and insomnia, is Antipyretic drugs of a cool-cold nature should not be administered because this is a kind of void fever. Neither can bloodletting be adopted, as the feverish condition will be exacerbated. Since the patient is very weak, drugs for clearing void fever are encouraged, including Herba Artemisia Annua, Radix Vladimirea lignum Aquilaria, Resina Boswellia, Semen Myristica, Calciosinter, Flos garlic ash, Caulis Tinospora, Semen Rubus, Fructus Choerospandia, Radix lnula ground together as powder and then medicated with wine. Moxibusfion at 17 vertebrae. It is indicated that a warm place is suitable, and fresh beef and other wild beast flesh are preferable.

Hidden Fever
Hidden fever is caused by improper treatment of fever ailments, for instance, cool-cold drugs applied too early. It may also be caused by early application of diet therapy at a critical moment of the fever disease; in addition, the patient further catches cold, thus blocking the fever within the body.

Manifestations of hidden fever come in two categories, namely, heat exceeding cold, manifesting most heat with sunken-tense-rapid pulse, deep-colored urine difficult to change, a dry mouth and tongue, loss of appetite, reddened eyes, epistaxis, a bitter taste in the mouth, difficulty in sleeping, sometimes sweating, heavy head. Another type is cold exceeding heat, manifesting sunken-retarded pulse, green-colored urine uneasy to change, pale complexion, loss of appetite,dejected spirit, running nose, aversion to cold and an inclination towards warmth and fire.

The patient should live in a location neither too hot nor too cold, withappropriate temperature control. Food and drink should be plain and easily digested.
For medication, the following recipes can be administered. Calciosinter, Flos Carthami, Flos Eugenia, Piper Longi, Feces Ochotonaerythrotis, Herba Swertia purpurascens, cinnabar. All the ingredients are ground into powder with sugar added.

Frutus Terminalia chebula, Fructus Terminalia bellirica, Fructus Phyllanthi,Herba Meconopsis, Caulis Tinospora, Herba Swertia purpurascens, Radix Radiola crenulata, Radix Aconiti forrestii, Herba Corydalis sibericae. Decoct all the ingredients and administer it when cool.
