Description: Mona who was the official of government in Berlin Germany. She suffered from type one diabetes for 10 years. She had tried many advanced western therapeutics while it didn't help. Therefore, her husband accompanied with her and visited TCM center on 8st, June, 2004. After she came here, the doctors diagnosed for her and told her that it was much better to treat by traditional natural therapy according to her condition. That was the sino-western joint. The treatment lasted 20 days for tree treatments. It also included two days tour around Guilin scenery.
The first treatment was from 8st to 13st.
The First Day: introducing the center and Chinese medical culture, and appreciated the Tai Chi performance. It was Professor Quan who introduced the center to them. Then Professor Quan diagnosed and felt the pulse for Mona. After the diagnosis, Professor Quan told Mona that it was much better to treat the diabetes by the natural therapy such as Tuina, Foot massage, acupuncture and herbal medicine according to her health condition.
The second day: moring, Tuina, foot massage and the herbal pills, in the afternoon, acupuncture and herbal tea.
The treatment of diabetes by foot therapy is focused on adjusting the function of central nerve system, thus enhancing the activity of endocrine gland function and that of the secretion function of insulin.
The herbal pills and herbal tea plays complementary role on the diabetes. They have such effects as producing the body fluid and relieving the thirst, clearing away pathogenic heat and so on.
Professor Li, an acupuncture expert, applied acupuncture treatment as supplementary means. First of all, he explained acupuncture theory which had analgesic function and an effective use to headache, diabetes, sciatica, and dysmenorrheal. In addition, this treatment could improve immunity quickly. Professor Li performed acupuncture to certain related points then applied heat produced by ignited moxawood to these points about 20 minutes. Mona felt well and comfortable after treatment.
Body acupuncture
Prescription: Weiwanxiashu (EX-B 3), Geshu (BL 17), Feishu (BL 13), Pishu (BL 20), Shenshu (BL 23), Zusanli (ST 36) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6).
Performance: Weiwanxiashu (EX-B 6), a key effective acupoint for treating diabetes, should be needled 0.5-0. 8 cun obliquely toward the spinal column with reinforcing needling technique. The rest acupoints are needled with reinforcing needling technique or mild rein-forcing and reducing needling techniques.
2. Ear acupuncture
Prescription: Pancreas and gallbladder (C011), En-docrine (C018), Lung (C014), Stomach (C04), Kidney (C010), Bladder (C09), Thirst point (midpoint on the line joining External Nose and Ear Apex) and Hunger Point (External Nose).
Performance: Each time 3 - 4 acupoints are selected and needled with filiform needles and mild stimulation. Or Wangbuliuxingzi (Semen Vaccariae) is used for ear acu-pressure. The two ears are pressed in alternation.
The next few days are the same as the second day.
The second treatment was from 14st to 19st.
The last treatment was from 20st to 25st.
Effect Observation: After taking the tree treatments, she felt much better than before. After 3 months' herbal medication follow up, Mona got rid of diabetes completely. Now she could live the happy life as the other people.After the third treatments, Mona and her husband went to enjoy the scenery in Guilin for two days and one night.
First Day: Went to Longsheng and enjoyed the Longsheng Hot spring which reputed as "a heaven of peace and happiness" and "paradise on earth," is the centerpiece of the national park. At night, returned to downtown and appreciated the Two Rivers & Four Lakes. The wonderful scene of the water city as described in the poem "A thousand hills stand around the city, a river flows through it" reappears.
The Seventh Day: Tour Yangshuo. And appreciated the beautiful scenery in Yangshuo such as West Street, Butterfly Spring, Moon Hill and so on.. Experienced the rurality.
After the whole treatment and tours, Mona and her husband left happily.
