Scutellariae Cures For Heat asthma

Main symptoms and signs Asthmatic cough with sputum and rale, yellowish and thick sputum, sonorous voice with short breath, chest distress and fullness, dysphoria, thirst, or fever, constipation, yellowish urine, reddish tongue with thin and yellowish or yellowish and greasy fur, slippery and rapid pulse.

Therapeutic methods: Clearing away heat from the lung, resolving sputum and soothing asthma.

Prescription and drugs: The prescription used is the modified Asthma-eliminating Decoction composed of 3g of Zhimahuang (Herba Ephedrae Praeparata), 10 g of Xingren(Semen Armeniacae Amarum ), 10 g of Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae ) , 10 of Tinglizi (Semen Lepidii), 10 g of Zisuzi (Fructus Perillae), 10 g of Sangbaipi (Cortex Mori Radicis), of Kuandonghua (Flos Farfarae), 10 g of Qianhu (Radix Peucedani), 6 g of Zhike (Fructus Aurantii) and 3 g of Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae).

Modification For the patients with severe fever, 15 g of Yuxingcao (Herba Houttuyniae) and 20 g of Shi-gao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (to be decocted first) are added for the patients with sputum obstruction, 10 g of Tianzhuhuang ( Concretio Silicea Bambusae) and 20 g of Haifushi (Os Costaziae) are included; for the patients with severe asthma, 10 g of Dilong (Lumbricus) and 10 g of Baijiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus) are added; for the patients with sticky sputum and thirst, 10 g of Gualoupi (Pericarpium Trichosanthis )and 10 g of Yuzhu (Rhizoma Polygonati Odorati) are included.
