Red dates

This is a skin disease with skin lesions on parts of the body with rich secretion of sebum, such as scalp, forehead, superciliary arch, lateral side of the nose alae, posterior side of the ear, chest, back and perineal region. The lesions may spread downward from the head and face and even cover the whole body.

It can be divided into 2 types: Patients with blood deficiency with wind and dryness pathogens may have dry yellowish red macules with many scales and marked itching, loss of dry hair, red tongue proper with scanty coating and thready rapid pulse.

patients with damp-heat pathogens in the stomach and intestines may have greasy skin lesions with exudate and slight itching, chest distress, bitter taste in the mouth, poor appetite, irregular bowel movements, discharge of dark urine in short streams, red tongue proper with yellow greasy coating and soft rapid pulse.

Recipe 1: Red dates 100 g and pig lard 60 g.
Administration: The above 2 materials are boiled for oral intake of the dates with soup, 2-3 times a week for 3-5 weeks.
Indication: This recipe can enrich the blood, moisten dryness, expel wind pathogens and clear heat to treat this disease due to blood deficiency with wind and dryness pathogens.

Recipe 2: Haws 60-120 g, one piece of lotus leaf and an adequate amount of raw Gancao (licorice).
Administration: A decoction of the above materials is drunk once a day for over one month.
Indication: This recipe can clear heat and eliminate dampness to treat this disease due to damp-heat pathogens in the stomach and intestines.

Recipe 3: Radish leaf 30 g, Yiyiren (Job's tears) 30 g and Machixian (purslane) 30 g.
Administration: A decoction of the above materials is drunk once a day for 4-5 weeks.
Indication: This recipe is used to treat this disease due to damp-heat pathogens in the stomach and intestines.
