Main symptorns and signs: Edema of limbs and the body, cough with short breath, palpitation, chest distress, cyanotic lips, dysphoria with the inability to lie flat, whitish or whitish and greasy fur, thready and rapid pulse without force.

Modification: For the patients with grey complexion, cyanotic lips, cold limbs, profuse sweat, extremely weak pulse as the critical symptoms of the heart yang-tending to deplete, Dushen Decoction (Ginseng-only Decoction) or Shenfu Longmu Jiuni Decoction is advisable for emergent use. The commonly-used drugs include 6 g of Renshen (Radix Ginseng) (decocted separately), 3 g of Zhifupian (Radix Aconiti Praeparata) (to be decocted first), 20 g of Longgu (Os Draconis Fossilia) (to be decocted first), 20 g of Muli (Concha Ostreae) (to be decocted first) and 6 g of Wuweizi (Fructus Schisandrae) are taken to strengthen body resistance and prevent depletion.
